7.3.3. Removal and installation of a cross beam

For removal of a cross beam:
— install the car on a support so that both forward wheels did not concern a floor;
— remove the heat-insulating screen before a half shaft and a forward guard of the engine;
— turn off nuts of fastening of the engine in front and behind, turn out four bolts (two long and two short), take out two bolts of fastening of the engine and remove the central longitudinal beam;
— disconnect wires of the oxygen probe from the socket; if the oxygen probe is not removed, disconnect a reception pipe of the muffler from a collector and remove it;
— remove a gear shifting bar from the transmission;
— remove the case of the steering mechanism from a cross beam for what:

— turn out a bolt and weaken fastening of the heat-insulating screen to a collector, turn out two bolts of fastening of a tube to a cross beam and four bolts of fastening of the case of the steering mechanism (fig. 7.17);
— disconnect suspension bracket levers from the stabilizer of cross stability;

— disconnect levers of a forward suspension bracket from a cross beam (see fig. 7.12);

— having substituted a support under a cross beam, turn out two bolts of fastening of a cross beam to a longeron (fig. 7.18);
— remove a cross beam.
Installation of a cross beam should be carried out as it should be, the return to removal:
— carefully clear the interfaced body surfaces;
— install the case of the steering mechanism;
— establish racks on a cross beam, without tightening a fastening detail;
— screw a new nut on a forward axial bolt, without tightening it;
— fix a cross beam, having tightened forward bolts the moment of 108 N · m and back short bolts the moment of 88 N · m;
— install the steering mechanism and its arms, tighten bolts the moment of 69 N · m;
— be convinced that the arm and fastening in front of the heat-insulating screen are in the correct situation;
— establish fastening of a tube and tighten bolts on a cross beam the moment of 25 N · m;
— install the heat-insulating screen and tighten bolts the moment of 10 N · m;
— check that all brackets of fastening were on the places;
— establish a gear shifting bar (the moment of an inhaling of 16 N · l);
— adjust the provision of a reception pipe of the muffler, establish springs and wrap bolts; at the same time use new laying and respect the rules of an inhaling of threaded connections: nuts of a forward exhaust pipe — 9 N · m; bolts of fastening of an exhaust pipe to catalytic converter — 35 N · m;
— establish and fix the central longitudinal beam on forward fastening of the engine; wring out the engine forward and attach a longitudinal beam to back fastening of the engine; wrap four bolts of fastening of the central longitudinal beam the moment of 69 N · m;
— tighten bolts of fastenings of the engine the moment of 59 N · m;
— establish a forward guard of the engine and the heat-insulating screen of a half shaft (the moment of an inhaling of 10 N · l);
— remove a support and rock a suspension bracket up-down several times that rubber support became on the place;
— tighten a nut of an axial bolt the moment of 91 N · m;
— fix racks of the stabilizer of cross stability on the lower levers of a forward suspension bracket for what use new nuts and spherical hinges: moment of an inhaling of 45 N · m.
