5.7.4. Replacement of an epiploon of a main shaft on the removed transmissionOn cars with the M5P/M5D transmission for replacement of an epiploon execute the following operations:
a) remove the bearing of switching off of coupling and a fork with a rubber sealing element;
b) remove the directing coupling switching off bearing plug;
— clear a surface around the directing plug;

c) install a new epiploon in the directing plug;
— grease a contact edge of an epiploon with jellied Volvo 1161001-1 lubricant;

— press an epiploon against the stop by means of a mandrel of 999 2413 (fig. 5.37);
d) install the directing plug of the bearing of switching off of coupling (fig. 5.36):
ATTENTION
Epiploons of KP M3R should be changed at specialized service stations the special tool.

— install the plug on the place (slightly knock);

— put two bolts and tighten the moment 25 N · m.
On cars with the M3P transmission for replacement of an epiploon execute operations:
a) mount the special tool for installation of the directing plug:
— clear a surface around the directing plug;

— install the tool 999 5636-1 on the directing plug and press it against the stop (fig. 5.39).
— put two bolts and tighten their moment 30 N · m;

— install a support 999 5636 on the transmission and fix by bolts (fig. 5.40);

— screw a stripper 999 5336-2 on the tool 999 5576 (fig. 5.41);
— open the air crane that the piston went out of the cylinder;
— close the air crane;
b) remove the directing plug with an epiploon:
— heat the transmission in the field of the directing plug to 60 °C within 6 min.;

— install the tool 999 5576 with a stripper of 999 5636-2 (fig. 5.43) over the tool 999 5636-1;
— open the air crane that the cylinder laid down on a support.
— close the air crane.
— take the directing plug from the transmission, having created pressure the pump 999-5576.
Heat the transmission once again if the directing plug does not leave, and if necessary tighten screws on the tool 999 5636-1 even stronger (fig. 5.41);
— remove the tool 999 5636-1 from the directing plug;
— clear the assembly surfaces of the transmission.
c) install the directing plug together with an epiploon in the transmission:

— mark the transmission at the oil channel (fig. 5.42);
— install the tool 999 5636-1 on the new directing plug (do not fix), leave the plastic plug in the directing plug;
— apply assembly paste 1161006-0 on the interfaced surfaces of the directing plug and the transmission;
— install the directing plug in the KP case, having combined the oil channel on a tag (fig. 5.43);
— install the tool 999 5636-1 on the tool 999 5636;
— install the tool 999 5636-3 on the tool 999 5576;
— open the air crane;
— fix the tool 999 5636-3 on the tool 999 5636-1 by two bolts;
— close the air crane;
Press the directing plug as it is possible more deeply in the transmission;
— remove special tools;
— remove a protective plastic cover of the directing plug.
