5.3.2. Replacement of the main cylinder of coupling

In case of detection of leaks or internal restart-up of liquid the main cylinder of coupling should be replaced assembled for what:
a) disconnect a negative wire of the rechargeable battery;
b) merge brake fluid from hydraulic system of coupling:

— connect a hose to the drain union 1 (fig. 5.7) of the working cylinder of coupling (from the transmission);
— open the union and merge from system brake fluid in capacity;
— tighten the union;

c) disconnect a pedal of coupling (fig. 5.8) from the main cylinder of coupling:
— remove the lower cover of the dashboard;
— remove the fixing bracket and take a pin;
— check a condition of the plug of a pin;
d) disconnect the block of safety locks:
— uncover;

— turn out two screws (fig. 5.9) and put the block of safety locks aside;

e) disconnect the vacuum pump with the regulator of system of maintenance of the set speed (if the system is installed), for what turn out two bolts from an arm (fig. 5.10) and put aside all knot;
e) put rags under the cylinder of coupling and disconnect a hose of supply of brake fluid to the main cylinder of coupling from a tank of the main brake cylinder;

g) weaken the union 1 (fig. 5.11) of supply of brake fluid in the working cylinder of coupling;
h) turn off two nuts 2 fastenings of the main cylinder of coupling;
i) unscrew the union of 1 tube and remove the coupling cylinder;
j) remove laying;
k) clear the cylinder of coupling and a heat-insulating partition.
l) install the new main cylinder of coupling:
— establish new laying on a heat-insulating partition;
— establish a tube and tighten the union 1 fingers;
— screw two nuts 2 and tighten the moment 13 N · m;
— establish a hose between a tank and the cylinder;
— fill in brake fluid in a tank and tighten the tube union after brake fluid begins to follow from connection; moment of an inhaling of 15 N · m;

       NOTE
Use only the Volvo (DOT+) brake fluid.

— combine an opening of a bracket of a rod of the main cylinder of coupling with a plug opening on a coupling pedal, insert a pin, establish a spring latch, establish the lower cover of the dashboard;
— install the vacuum pump and put two screws of an arm; moment of an inhaling of screws of 10 N · m;
— install the block of safety locks (fig. 5.10); put two bolts and tighten the moment 10 N · m;
— put a block cover.
