2.25. Corrosion-resistant coating of the car and care of it
There are two very effective ways of care of an anticorrosive covering of your car:
1) it is always necessary to keep the car clean! For a sink of elements of the chassis, the bottom of a body, cavities of nadkolesny arches and edges of wings it is necessary to apply a sink a stream of high pressure to removal of dirt from them;
2) to address on HUNDRED Volvos for conducting regular check of an anticorrosive covering of your car by them and performance of work, necessary for its maintenance in the best state;
The car was processed at the plant for protection against corrosion. Under normal conditions operation repeated processing is not required within about eight years then it will be necessary to repeat processing each three years.
It is regularly necessary to check and restore as necessary a visible part of an anticorrosive covering. If it is necessary to renew an anticorrosive covering, it should be executed immediately for prevention of penetration of moisture under an anticorrosive layer. If you want to perform this work independently, it will be necessary to wash up and dry the car then to be convinced that the surface which is subject to processing absolutely dry, without any traces of dirt. Anticorrosive mastic should be applied with dispersion or a brush.
There are two various types of anticorrosive structures:
— low-viscous (transparent) for drawing a thin layer on visible parts of the car;
— dense for sites of the bottom and cavities of wheel arches which are most subject to wear of a corrosion-resistant coating.
Restoration of a covering by the recommended anticorrosive structures will be required, perhaps, for the following parts of a body:
— visible welded seams and joints of panels (low-viscous structure);
— bottoms and cavities of wheel arches (dense structure);
— loops of doors (low-viscous structure);
— loops and locks of a cowl (low-viscous structure).
After completion of all work on the car it is necessary to remove surplus of anticorrosive structure with the rags moistened in white spirit.
Before sending the car from the plant the motor compartment is pollinated transparent structure on a wax basis, resistant to influence of normal not aromatic detergents of the engine. However if you apply to the engine the detergents containing solvents, such as white spirit or turpentine (in particular, solvents with the content of emulsifiers), it will be necessary to put suitable anticorrosive structure on a wax basis for restoration of initial protective properties again.
