2.23.3. Anti-blocking system of brakes (ABS)The anti-blocking system of brakes (ABS) is intended for prevention of blocking of wheels in the conditions of intensive braking. The system "feels" the moment when brakes begin to be blocked, automatically redistributes pressure in brake contours and by that prevents blocking of wheels (i.e. braking by a skid).
NOTE
When the car reaches speed about 6 km/h, the ABS system carries out self-examination. The pedal of a brake will pulse several times, and the module of management of system will make a characteristic sound. All this is not a malfunction sign.
|
When the system works during braking, you will feel vibration on a pedal of a brake and also will distinctly hear this pulsing sound. It is also not a malfunction sign.
Do not release a brake pedal when you hear and you feel that the ABS system works. For achievement of optimum effect it is necessary to press completely a brake pedal, ABS at the same time will allow you to use steering during braking of the car, raising thus your opportunities of driving and, therefore, improving safety of your car.
